Architecting the enterprise

At the core of a digital enterprise is an organisation based on a strong architectural foundation.

Enterprise architecture has received a bad wrap in the last few years, mainly because of failed projects involving large teams of enterprise architects building spreadsheets and retrospectively analysing business processes to the nth degree.

This is a shame, because enterprise architecture, done well, helps to ensure that your enterprise's strategy can be supported by the people, process and technology required to get the job done. Key to understanding this is that enterprise architecture is not just IT. Enterprise architecture does require consideration and thought, but can leverage existing patterns to deliver in an iterative way that supports your business and adds value at each iteration.
